Covers

I heard two great covers recently both courtesy of Tod Seelie’s blog Suckapants which is a constant source of great music. Tod is pretty much the king of covers, so I knew they would be great before I heard them. This version of Young Folks might not be your cup of tea if you’re fresh off the original, but if you have had some time apart you might be a fan. As for the Michael Idov song, I think it’s the best (and worst) thing I have ever heard.

This photo was taken on my back deck in Vancouver. It was the last ENORMOUS party (of about nine or ten) that we had at ‘The Castle of Despair’. The house had been sold and we were to move out, boo hoo!. What better way to display our despair than by throwing a kegger…GOTH STYLE! to commemorate the death of the Castle. Too bad Todd never published any photos of the kitchen/dance floor, that was blacked out wall to wall floor to ceiling complete with bats and little fluffy black storm clouds hanging down to ruin everyones night. Photos of the guys doing skate tricks over the flaming bike pile in the alley would have been good too. The real treat was when the real goths showed up to see what the fuck was going on, they were treated with ultimate respect. And last but not least was the 3 or 4 song set by the impromptu goth band WORST LIFE. I would take a baseball bat to the ribs to re-live that party.
