In honor of Morrissey being in town again and me going to two (maybe three) shows this time around, I have posted this b-side from the ‘Youngest Was The Most Loved’ 7 inch. People aren’t so into the new album, but I think there’s some okay stuff in there and I like this song a whole bunch. Tonight Morrissey said that he was going to get implanted with a fake womb (as talked about in the news) and then donate sperm in order to make and conceive his own baby. That made me feel weird.

You can thank my friend Jane for this one. I don’t even like Lil’ Wayne that much but this track is mind boggling. My friend told me that she listened to it on repeat all day at work and after the first time I heard it, I called bullshit. Now a week later, I can’t stop playing it. Before you listen, just picture this.. hollow, reverby drums with minimal melody, a hella creepy sample about dying and Wayne spitting something about having parties on Mars. I know the song is about cough syrup and all that, but damn. I think if I had just crushed up a bunch of xanax (actually I think he calls them xanac) and drank some cough syrup, this is the last song I would want to hear. I think it might make me lose my shit. Then again, I may be wrong. I’ll have to try it and get back to you.

Lil’ Wayne - I feel Like Dying

I am a big fan of the artist couple Kozyndan. They have really fun adventures all over the world and manage to make great artwork where ever they are. Lucky for everyone they have a well maintained blog that follows their travels and a Flickr page that is even better. Anyways, recently they vacationed in Okinawa, Japan and spent some time collecting music. Kozy posted a mix on their blog that is all Okinawan music and I can’t stop listening to it. It has a sound that I have been told in very specific to that region and is spoken in a dialect from the south that even my Japanese friends can’t translate for me. I couldn’t figure out how to have the Japanese character set come up correctly, so I just used simple track names. If anyone has more info, feel free to comment. I hope you like it as much as me.. Hard to really pinpoint what genre Caribou would fall under. Some of the older stuff would be downtempo or hip hop, but the new songs sound like they using everyone at once to play as a full band so.. I dunno, maybe electronic? I think they put it in the indie rock section of Ameoba (right?) so maybe I’ll stick with that for now. Either way, the new album Andorra is amazing. I even got inspired and dug up the old re-issue of Start Breaking My Heart, which is what made me start paying attention in the first place. They both are great for different reasons but whatever.. just listen to them if you haven’t already.

Alright, so since I posted the new Kanye I figured it would only be fair to post the new 50 Cent as well. Maybe you heard, but 50 apparently told Kanye that his new record Curtis (due out the same day 9/11) would sell more copies and if it didn’t he would retire from the rap game. While I brought it up, does anyone think it’s crazy that 9/11 is a desirable date for a record release? Anyways, he better check his 401k because his shit ain’t that good. Whatever, I’ve never really been a fan, but damn if he doesn’t say anything at all over some boring ass keyboard beats. I got so bored listening to his album that I stopped halfway through and started skimming. Remember ‘How to Rob an Industry Nigga’? What happened to 50 verses like that? I’m probably wrong and it will sell like crazy because people don’t care and he talks big gun talk which everyone goes loves. Again, sorry for posting the clean versions. You can’t even really hear him rap when everything is muted out.

Okay, so this is my second Kanye post in as many months. I grabbed the new album Graduation the other day and I have to say that I’m pretty smitten. You know I started out back in the day as someone who wasn’t that into Kayne (sorry, I mean Mr. West). He seemed like a backpacker (he even used to wear a backpack around) with a huge ego that couldn’t rap for shit. Granted his beats have always been tight, but still I never got it. It’s only been in the last 3 years or so, that I started developing a taste for his stuff. He raps have got better, sort of, but beyond that he has become much more intimate with the audience. He talks about his life and analyzes the rap world/his celeb status to the extent that you think to yourself, “yeah, I can totally see where you’re coming from”. It seems like you’re having a conversation with him.. plus I’m a sucker for a soul beat. Anyways, I like the new album so much I put up more tracks than usual. I apologize about posting the clean version of the tracks, but the clean promo version always gets leaked earlier, so that’s what I have.
