Love Jones

This one melody has been in my head since I first heard it on the Yesterday’s New Quintet EP Elle’s Theme back in 2001. I still play that bonus track out at parties whenever I get a chance to and without fail someone will come over and check it out. I have no idea how Madlib made that track but that version will always be my favorite. I always wanted the story to be that five years later J Dilla had re-worked The YNQ track as an inside joke, but as far as I can tell both he and Madlib where both remaking the original Placebo song. Maybe someone can tell me the truth someday.
Yesterdays New Quintet – Bonus Track
J Dilla – Love Jones
Placebo – Humpty Dumpty

The drumroll on that bonus track sounds like the intro from one of the UNKLE remixes, maybe their essential mix. The Robots dream of electric beats ones. Sound familiar?
Nice post btw. this is one of my favorite blogs.
