This is one of those anomaly songs where a notoriously shy and shoegazy band gets all tough for a second and it actually works. It reminds me of artist Jeffrey Brown who drew comics like Every Girl Is The End Of The World For Me and Miniature Sulk which were super emo stories where the main character is a big pussy. After getting a ton of shit for it, one day he came out with a zine called Be A Man, where he took the same stories and made the main character the exact opposite as before. Needles to say I liked the new comic much better. Anyways, I’m losing the point.. Pedro The Lion is bearable here in a great narrative which also happens to be a cover of an instrumental song by The Six Parts Seven. Get that? They took a song and then reworked it and wrote another song over it. Woah..

Men Crying

EDIT: I wrote sort of a mean review before, and while I stand by my calling out of sensitive-emo bands that are too whiny for their own good, the bands I posted below all write pretty good songs and deserve a break. Someone posted a comment saying that I should have gone after Hootie and the Blowfish instead, but that would have been too easy (not to mention that I would have had to post their music on my site). Anyways, you make up your own mind about this one..

Teenage Fanclub – Your Love Is The Place Where I Come From
