6 Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a two-person exhibition featuring new work from San Francisco photographers Jesse Pollock and Ruth Swanson

Jesse Pollock and Ruth Swanson at times seem to represent opposite ends of the photography spectrum, staying alone in their respective corners. While her work is abound with energy and color, his work can seem silent and humbly muted. Other times, they come together quite naturally and in an enormous burst of energy, complementing each others approach to life and photography from a self-referential standpoint. Both have gone to great lengths to document a portion of their lives which appears through their photographs uninhibited and unrestrained.

Jesse Pollock (B. 1980) is a freelance photographer and book publisher living in San Francisco. Having lived in San Francisco for the past ten years, he was worked with a wide variety of local arts organizations in a number of different capacities. Most recently he worked within the San Francisco photography collective Hamburger Eyes as a grant writer and fundraiser, as well as at the arts-based website Fecal Face Dot Com. There he served as Managing Editor and then as a Senior Contributor before stepping down to open the publishing house Unpiano Books in the middle of last year. Aside from his photo-zines Catch A Bad One, Girls, Guys and Angle, his work has appeared in Juxtapoz, Hamburger Eyes, SF Bay Gaurdian, SFAI, SF Weekly, Cutter, I Heart Magazine, Day Four and Weekend Magazine among others. Most recently his work was featured in Juxtapoz Photo, the first collection of photography work from Juxtapoz Magazine.

Ruth Swanson [B. 1983] is a photographer living in San Francisco. She is currently enjoying running things, hanging out in the dark at Hamburger Eyes Photo Epicenter, people who write songs for her as well as curating art and photography shows in San Francisco. The majority of her photos are introspective, and focus on the candid documentation of her own life as well as the people and moments that make it so precious.
